Makiko was born in Nagoya, Japan and graduated from the Nagoya Women's University in 1973. After designing textiles for many years, Makiko furthered her studies in graphic design and illustration, first in the US, and later at the Saint-Luc Institute of Arts in Belgium. Since 1993, she has worked as a freelance illustrator for greeting cards and children's picture books in Europe and Japan. Makiko lives in a small village in Belgium with her husband and son where she enjoys life surrounded by animals and nature. |
